Red Flags At Eighteen Months
- Not pointing to objects when asked to
- [Point to eyes, nose, or pictures or objects in the room]
- Not responding to name being called
- Not initiating and sustaining eye contact
- Not able to walk independently
- Not able to imitate caregivers simple actions
- Loss of skills at any age
- Not using at least six words with meaning
RED FLAGS AT TWENTY FOUR MONTHS
RED FLAGS AT 24 MONTHS
- Not walking yet , or frequent falls while walking or running
- Not comprehending simple instructions
- Not responding to name call or giving eye contact
- Not pointing to indicate needs or not using two word phrases
- Play is solitary and repetitive
- Loss of skills achieved at any age
IMPORTANCE OF EARLY INTERVENTION
- Picking up delays in development early is important
- Early intervention can help child achieve his or her best potential
WHAT SHOULD WE DO AS PARENTS ?
- Do not worry ! If you feel your child is not developing some skills, reach out to your pediatrician or a developmental pediatrician
- With proper screening and diagnosis , delays can be addressed and every child can improve !
